Obiano Moves to Modernize Anambra, Launches Intercity Taxi to link Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka

In a bold move to give the three leading cities of Anambra State an outlook of modernity and shore up their social index, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has launched three landmark initiatives that will change the face of the State.

The initiatives are the Anambra State City Cab Scheme, Operation Clean & Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) and the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency (ATMA). Although Anambra State with its three major cities and pockets of urbanizing towns is the most developed state in the South East, residents have always complained of the absence of organized intra and inter-city taxis that will facilitate the movement of commuters inside and between the cities.

Still on Lagos APC Guber Primaries, Fashola vs Tinubu War Follow On as Seer Warns Obasanjo

I sense a political war…

All seems not well within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the governorship primary won by former accountant-general of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, the candidate endorsed by the national leader of the party and former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu.
Ambode defeated 13 other aspirants, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji;

In an exercise that has been described as free, fair and credible by the delegates, Ambode scored 3,735 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Hamzat, who polled 1, 201 votes.

Feelers within the party suggest that Fashola may be waiting for Tinubu and Ambode in the build-up to the general election, as he may choose to withhold funds for the party to prosecute the election. If this happens, it will further deepen the animosity between the godfather and his estranged godson.

Corpse of Jim Nwobodo's Son Missing? Is That True?

Have you heard of this gist?

A serious controversy is trailing the burial of the late Dr. Ifeanyi Nwobodo jnr., the first son of Senator Jim Nwobodo, as his corpse was missing on Friday.

It was gathered that the missing corpse might not be unconnected with a disagreement between Sen. Nwobodo and the siblings of the deceased over the location of his grave.

Nwobodo, who was Second Republic Governor of old Anambra State, reportedly built a bungalow for his first son immediately after his death and ordered that his remains should be buried within the compound, in line with Igbo tradition that a first son, who dies before the father, disinherits his inheritance.

But the siblings of the deceased insisted that their brother must be buried in their father’s compound and not the house hurriedly built for him after his death.

End of Boko Haram: Nigerian Troops Crush Over 40 Insurgents, Cordon Off Konduga

It was a bad moment for some Boko Haram militants yesterday (Tuesday) night when over 40 of them were allegedly killed by the Nigerian troops in an encounter in Konduga Local Government area of Borno State.

The insurgents, according to investigations, who stormed the town in the midnight in a long convoy of vans loaded with sophisticated weapons, could not carry out their mission due to the quick of the troops, which resulted into exchange of fire that lasted for hours before they were repelled.

It was also gathered the intention of the sect members was to proceed to Maiduguri town for a total war after capturing Konduga town.

It was reported that no casualty was recorded on the side of the military and soldiers had cordoned off the community.

Ebelechukwu Obiano Advocates Entrepreneurial Training to curb unemployment

Ebelechukwu Obiano Advocates Entrepreneurial Training to curb unemploymentThe wife of Anambra State governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has advocated entrepreneurial training for women and youths to curb the high level of unemployment among school leavers and graduates of tertiary institutions due to lack of skill acquisition during their educational programmes. Such training she noted would better equip the beneficiaries to face life’s challenges after formal education.

Speaking after commissioning the Bakery and Knitting Centre of  the Saint John’s Vocational and Technical (VOTEC), Neni, Anaocha Local Government Area of the State,  Monday, Chief Mrs. Obiano explained that ‘’learning by doing’’ which the vocational and technical training offers will help to check unemployment situation in the country.

Governor Obiano’s wife reasoned that many educated university graduates are not skilled due to absence of entrepreneurial programmes in institutions; hence they roam the street in search of non-existent or few white collar jobs while those with skills provide jobs for themselves make profit and employ others.

The international multimedia networks and public policy organization, USAfrica, has adjudged the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, as the Nigerian Governor of the Year, ending 2014, “based on the USAfrica Governance Index  for combining effective management, practical results and grassroots social responsibility since the blast of his Anambra Governorship whistle on March 17, 2014.”

USAfrica — with almost 23 years of professional journalism and multimedia publishing business from its headquarters in Houston, Texas — has been acclaimed by the CNN, The New York Times, international scholars and public policy leaders as the largest and arguably the most influential African-owned, U.S-based multimedia networks.

A statement issued from Houston, Texas, by the Founder & Publisher of USAfrica and the  first African-owned, U.S.-based professional newspaper published  on the internet, USAfricaonline.com, Dr. Chido Nwangwu, articulated why Obiano bagged the prestigious recognition, noting that “in less than ten months of taking over the mantle of leadership of Anambra State, the banker turned politician has, with purposeful zeal attracted investments and with the courageous heart of a bull, confronted the criminals and miscreants who had unleashed mayhem and gripped the peace loving people of the state in the throes of trepidation, fear and death…. Obiano is proving to the people of Anambra and Nigerians, at home and in the Diaspora, that here cometh a man of proven technocratic competence out to put Anambra State on its rightful place on the map of economic development of Nigeria.”

Obiano Dazzles Onitsha Residents with Amazing Christmas Lights, Upper Iweka Glitters

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has continued to blaze the trail in the pursuit of excellence in governance, weaving aesthetics into the tapestry of his administrative exploits as could be seen with the sudden transformation of the once notorious Upper Iweka axis of Onitsha into a breathtaking kaleidoscope colours in readiness for Christmas.

Travellers into the Eastern heartland are forced to gasp in wonder as the long stately highway that connects the Niger Bridge to Upper Iweka now explodes into a carnival of colour at night in subtle demonstration of the positive change that Governor Obiano and his team have ushered into Anambra State. On the surface of the amazing transformation of Onitsha at night is the message of Christmas. However, underneath that is the subliminal message of transformation and hope for a once troubled city that used to be the dread of benighted road travellers.

Jackpot: Stephen Keshi to Earn N84m

All things being equal, Stephen Keshi will reportedly sign a new deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The deal in which he will now be earning seven million Naira per month is expected to be a 12-month contract that will elapse at the end of 2015.

Keshi’s last contract with the NFF which ended after the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament was at N5million per month.

And one of the reasons why a deal failed to be brokered since then was the haggling over the price he wanted to be paid.

Monarch Blasts Obasanjo, Warn Him to Stop Inciting Nigerians Against President Jonathan

Do you recall Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent diatribe against President Goodluck Jonathan where he said that Jonathan has performed below expectation?

The former President, Obasanjo has been warned to desist from turning Nigerians against the administration of the President.

Rommel Emenike, a very influential monarch in Rivers State, urged the former President to watch his utterances as such inflammatory statements could aggravate the already sensitive security situation in the country.

We Are Not Merging With APC - UPP Chairman, Okorie

The National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chekwas Okorie, has denied any plan by his party to go into a merger or any form of alliance with the All Progressive Congress (APC) or any other political party for that matter ahead of the 2015 general election.

Okorie, who is the founding National Chairman, made the clarification at the weekend during a press briefing against the backdrop of rumours making round in the media that his party, the UPP, would soon consummate a merger deal with the APC for the purpose of forging a stronger alliance against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 polls.

The Unintelligent Blogger as Opposition

It is patently clear that a syndicate that specializes in defamatory writings has converged on Anambra as a scene of desolation. They have come together to vilify the government of Anambra State with so much hate. Their malignant pieces are fast metastasizing and if unchecked, with equal rage, may debilitate their target.

This piece, in a sense, is not a rebuttal as there was nothing to refute in all of their claims against the government of the state. The track record of the same government which, they are bent on making of no reputation, will surely take some beating. As I read some of the deleterious pieces like Obiano being ill-prepared to be governor or his wife slapping the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oby Okeke at a Church service and more recently, an alleged crisis that has hit APGA, tearing Obiano and Umeh apart among others. I couldn’t but shudder at the type of scheme which the mind can be stirred.

Wow... Messi set to Join Chelsea for 200m Pounds

I am not a Chelsea fan but this move could be the most shocking deal ever in world football, which seems to be gaining ground every passing day.

Reports suggest that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, wants to join the Stamford Bridge side in a £200million deal at the end of the season.

Messi’s future has been subject of growing speculation in recent days, with sources close to him suggesting he could make a sensational switch away from Catalunya.

Though Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with a deal, but the Daily Express reports that the Argentine will accept a move to Chelsea instead.

The paper says Messi wants to link up with close friend, Cesc Fabregas, at Stamford Bridge, and that looks like being key to a deal.

“I do not believe those perpetrating these are Muslims, because if they are Muslims, they are not professing what Islam teaches.
