We Are Not Merging With APC - UPP Chairman, Okorie

The National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chekwas Okorie, has denied any plan by his party to go into a merger or any form of alliance with the All Progressive Congress (APC) or any other political party for that matter ahead of the 2015 general election.

Okorie, who is the founding National Chairman, made the clarification at the weekend during a press briefing against the backdrop of rumours making round in the media that his party, the UPP, would soon consummate a merger deal with the APC for the purpose of forging a stronger alliance against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 polls.

The rumour, he said, emanated from his courtesy visit last week, along with some UPP officials and Igbo town union leaders in Lagos, to Governor Raji Fashola at his Alausa office, Ikeja Lagos.

The UPP chairman described the rumour published in some local tabloids and social media (not Ifeadinmesi ooo) as wicked and malicious.
