Anambra: A Little Class Won’t Hurt Governance

When it became known about the middle of 2013 that Chief Willie Obiano was the heir apparent to the governorship of Anambra State, his Aguleri country home naturally became an integral part of the pre – election activities.  On beholding Obiano’s country home, most first time visitors had this question for the thoughtful – looking candidate: Did you ever know that you would one day be stepping into the shoes of governor? The recurring question was spurred by the breathtaking sight of Obiano’s sprawling mansion. It is a palatial edifice which charm spoke as much from its outstanding architectural design as the rustic background scenery.  Aside the stately ambience of the expansive structures, the management of the uneven terrain left you in no doubt that whoever had commissioned the ambitious project was someone with a sense of style and class.

Say No to Ebola... Here's How! #YALICHAT

Here are some of the facts on symptoms and preventions of Ebola from last week’s #YALICHAT with medical experts from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to the CDC, here are the four ways to protect yourself:

Practice good hygiene.Avoid contact with bodily fluids of infected persons.Don’t handle the body of an Ebola fatality.Avoid contact with nonhuman primates and bats, their meat and their bodily fluids.

Ebola is not spread by air or water, but it can spread through direct contact with objects that have been contaminated with the virus, such as, blankets, linens, utensils, etc.

Also remember that anyone who is sick with Ebola can spread the virus.

If someone you know is exhibiting the following symptoms, he or she should be quarantined at a health facility to receive proper treatment and to avoid the spread of the disease.

Symptoms are: a fever greater than 38.6°C or 101.5°F, a severe headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or unexplained hemorrhage.

Be a part of the solution. Share these Ebola facts with your family, friends and community.

The Day Anambra North queued behind Dubem Obaze

Dubem Obaze (left - on a yellow cap) humbly receiving cheers as his supporters match past. By his side is APGA National Secretary, Alhaji Shinkaffi (waving)
Politics they say, is a game of numbers.

As All Progressives Grand Alliance publicly declared their unalloyed support for President Jonathan last Saturday, August 30, 2014, the various aspirants within the party used the opportunity to show their might.

It was easy to predict the popularity of each aspirant as they match round with their placards, banners and choice music.

However, “Obodo delu jii” when Chief Dubem Obaze rose to match with his supporters. Recall that Chief Dubem was recently honoured by the Traditional Rulers in Anambra North as the “Ife aka Chi” and he has also received endorsement with several pressure groups from his Senatorial Zone.

The number of followers that joined him sent out a loud applause, a positive signal that Chief Obaze is truly being sent to the Senate by his people. His team comprised the youths and the elderly, current political office holders and many other aspirants.

Obiano Makes case for Economic Re-invention of South East

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has made a case for a more aggressive approach to the development of the South East in a manner that would ensure its survival as an economic block.
In an address at this year’s edition of the World Igbo Congress in Houston titled “Laying the Foundations of Hope, Chief Obiano argued that as true sons and daughters of the great Igbo ancestors who had mastered the art of democratic leadership long before the arrival of the colonial masters, Ndigbo must define the challenges of the present time and rise to them.

The Governor also made it clear that all political aspirants must go through the party primaries noting that All Progressives Grand Alliance has respect for rule of law and promotes internal democracy.

The rally which turned out to be the greatest ever conducted on that ground was attended by APGA  Stakeholders and National Leadership. Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani and former PDP National Women Leader, Josephine Anenih were present while Prince Arthur Eze was represented by Prince Emeka Eze.

APGA National Chairman, Sir Victor Umeh declared that the Join Jonathan Journey is a train with which APGA shall sweep the whole South East by 2015.
