WONDERS! Doctors remove 232 teeth from a 17-year old boy

Doctors in India have extracted 232 teeth from the mouth of a 17-year-old boy in a seven-hour operation. 

Ashik Gavai was brought in with a swelling in his right jaw, Dr Sunanda Dhiware, head of Mumbai's JJ Hospital's dental department, told the BBC. The teenager had been suffering for 18 months and travelled to the city from his village after local doctors failed to identify the cause of the problem.

Authorities of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, have sent home Taiwo Ogunkunle, a patient in need of surgery, for indebtedness to the hospital above the ceiling of allowable credit for a needy patient.
It would be recalled that the story of Taiwo, a JSS 3 student, who had been hospitalised since February this year in the hospital as a result of injury sustained after a fall on her way from school and which necessitated surgery, was published last week.

An Air Algerie flight with 116 people on board has dropped off radar, prompting a search for the missing plane, the airline's operator said Thursday.

Flight 5017 lost radar contact 50 minutes after takeoff from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, early Thursday. It was supposed to arrive at Algiers' Houari Boumediene Airport about four hours later.

2 Bomb Blasts in Kaduna: Buhari says it's an assassination attempt as Police confirms 25 dead bodies


At least 82 persons were killed yesterday, and several others injured in two bomb blasts in Kaduna, allegedly targeted at former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. Both men, however, escaped unhurt.

In a statement he issued immediately after the incident, General Buhari declared that it was an assassination attempt and narrated how the suicide bomber tried to carry out the deadly assignment.

In his reaction, President Goodluck Jonathan thanked God for sparing the lives of General Buhari and Sheikh Bauchi, and extended condolences to families of the dead, while commiserating with the injured.

Also present at the meeting were Senate Presiden David Mark, Finance Minister, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Principal of the Schol, Mrs Asaba Kwambura as well as some Heads of Nigeria’s Security Agencies.

University of Nigeria Lecturer commits Suicide

Tragedy struck at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria, (UNEC) last weekend as a lecturer at the institution's Law Faculty, Dr Bede Opata committed suicide over yet-to-be ascertained reasons.

The lecturer who was until his death, the son of a former Commissioner in the old Anambra state, Chief Cletus Opata hailed from Nsukka area of Enugu state.

Gov Sullivan orders his Deputy to resign or face impeachment

There are strong indications that mercenaries are already in motion to ensure that the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Sunday Onyebuchi is impeached.

The rumour of his removal from office became rife on Wednesday when he reportedly had an open quarrel with his boss which made the governor request voluntary resignation or face impeachment.

According to the Vanguard reports, the firm, which manufactures cars, buses, tankers and other products, would from August 8  introduce brand new cars into the Nigerian automobile market at the cost of N1.5 million.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has denied reports that he has called it quit with the Super Eagles and re-affirmed his commitment to the team.

Nigeria loses another great man as former Petroleum Minister, Rilwan Lukman passes on at 75

Nigeria has lost yet another great man.

The former Minister of Petroleum, Rilwanu Lukman passed on this morning July 21st in Austria. 

He was aged 75. 

A renowned engineer who held several ministerial positions in Nigeria before becoming Secretary General of OPEC from 1995 to 2000.
