Chinedu Orji, the first son of Gov Theodore Orji of Abia State
has issued a stern warning to all aspirants who employ name-dropping in
canvassing for votes.
Handing down the warning at the Abia State Secretariat of PDP
in Umuahia during a meeting between the House of Assembly aspirants and the
party leadership in the state, Chinedu Orji, who is also an aspirant for
Umuahia Central State Constituency, urged aspirants not to involve the family
while canvassing for the votes among delegates at the primaries.
According to him:
“All these dropping of my name, that of my father and mother
is unnecessary, I don’t have any aspirant that I am supporting,
there is no way you can stop any aspirant from running an election except the
stakeholders agree or disagree against any aspirant from running,” he stated.
He urged the party to make the contest transparent to ensure
that only the most popular candidates emerge.
