The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has rescued about 20 pregnant women in a baby factory discovered recently at Umunkpeyi in Isiala Ngwa South LGA.

The discovery, rescue and arrest of some commercial workers was done following a tip off.

The State NSCDC Commandant, Andy Dateer, said the baby factory which is named Nma Charity and Motherless Babies’ Home,  specialize in bringing in men to impregnate the young girls and after delivery, the babies are sold, and the mothers paid peanuts.

On the heels of his first one hundred days in office and in furtherance of the objective of Continuity, Completion, Commissioning, and Commencement of new projects, the Executive Governor of Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has again embarked on inspection tour of projects in parts of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi with a view to improving infrastructure across the State. In this regard, the three strategic cities of the State were agog as Governor Obiano inspected ongoing projects and commenced new ones. The Governor gave the contractors handling the various projects including the three Shopping Malls in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi a maximum of 10 months’ deadline to complete the job.

News reports suggest that Boko Haram insurgents attacked the Huyim Community in Askira-Uba Local Government of Borno State killing at least nine people.

The village which is predominantly Christians lost their community head, many Churches and houses to the attack.

"Nine villagers were killed in Huyim Village yesterday after the Boko Haram terrorists killed the village head of Dille, burnt many houses, Churches and left many others seriously injured." A local vigilante told journalists

EXPOSED: Impeached Nyako to be jailed 4 years as he faces alleged treason. Read the full script of his removal from office

There were indications last night that the impeached governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, might be arrested by security agents and charged to court for alleged treason.

While the treason charges against the former governor is billed to take off in one court, the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, would be prosecuting Nyako in another court for allegedly looting funds of the state said to have been stashed in a local bank.

The governor and the North-East Region manager of the said bank will be charged with another top official of Adamawa State Government, who is being held by the anti-graft agency for aiding and abetting the looting.

The PDP Governors have endorsed President Jonathan for the 2015 Presidential Election.

The PDP Governor’s Forum led by Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State declared their support after a dusk to dawn meeting with Mr. President in Abuja.

Present at the meeting were the PDP National Leadership and the House of Representatives Caucus of the Party.

Mr Speaker, Tambuwal was conspicuously absent.

This is coming few days after the PDP House Caucus declared their endorsement for President Jonathan to run for re-election in 2015.

According to Daily Independent report, the President failed to hold a scheduled meeting with some of the Chibok girls and their parents at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, following the refusal of the #BringBackOurGirl campaigners, led by Oby Ezekwesili, to release them for the visit.

Pakistani child rights activist, 17-year old Malala Yousafzai, met Jonathan the previous day and requested for the meeting, which he consented to.

The President had summoned the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, and other senior government officials for the 4pm meeting before his aides relayed information to him that the girls had been prevented from making the trip to the Villa.

President of Customary Court swears in Speaker as the acting Governor of Adamawa State

Following the impeachment of Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and the resignation of his Deputy, Bala Ngilari, Speaker of the State House of Assembly has been sworn in as the new acting Governor.

The acting governor was sworn in by the President of the Customary Court in the Council Chambers of the Government House, Yola.

Acting Governor Umaru Finitri in his first but short statement promised to pay the workers their outstanding two months salaries.

He is expected to be in office for the maximum of 3 months within which INEC is expected to conduct a fresh election.

Assassins flood Abia State, Commissioner for Agriculture dies of gun shot wound

The Abia State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr Kenneth Nwosu, who was shot by unknown gun men along a lonely road at Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government has passed on.

The late Nwosu gave up the ghost at Abia State Specialist Hosptial, Umuahia where he was rushed after being shot six days ago.

His passing on was announced by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo who described Mr Kenneth Nwosu as “a colossus and the best hand in Agriculture” and also stressed that his death is a sad moment for Abia State.

Nassarrawa Impeachment: Polices bars Clerk of the House from serving Impeachment notice, House moves to Option B

The clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ego Maikeffi, on Tuesday said that he was denied access to the Government House, Lafia to serve the state governor, Tanko Almakura, an impeachment notice.

Adamawa Governor Nyako impeached as Deputy resigns, Speaker of the House Sworn-in

The Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako has been impeached by the State House of Assembly following an indictment by the 7-man probe panel set up by the then acting Chief Judge.

Earlier today, the Deputy Governor of the State, Ngilari tendered his resignation to the House which was unanimously accepted.

Immediately after votes in support of Nyako’s impeachment by 18 out of 24 House Members, the Speaker of the House, Umaru Finitri was voted to be sworn in as the next governor.

The swearing-in is scheduled to hold by 4pm today.
