Crisis in Ebonyi State: Speaker Petitions President Jonathan to Stop Bond Approval

 

The political hostility among People’s Democratic Party stalwarts in Ebonyi State has got messier as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Nwazunku, has petitioned President Goodluck Jonathan requesting him not to approve of the N15 billion bond the state government is seeking from the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

Noting that the 24-member House of Assembly was yet to be properly briefed on the use and performance of the previous bond obtained by the state government, the Speaker wrote Mr President through  a letter dated November 10.

Reports came in yesterday that the Nigerian military has recaptured Mubi town in Adamawa State, northern Nigeria from the Boko Haram insurgents.

According to a BBC report, the terrorists are currently fleeing from the Nigerian Soldiers.

Also, a resident in Mubi confirmed the information to newsmen, saying:

“Earlier today, soldiers launched a fierce attack, which saw the Boko Haram militants retreating.

There are "a thousand and one" reasons why Nigerians should support President Jonathan, not just for the re-election by 2015 but also for a successful second term in office...

Nigeria is ours and only our united support will ensure a great President and a bright future for us...

We can't expect progress when our understanding of opposition is defined by pull-down syndrome.

Never mind the areas he has performed creditably... Don't try to praise him!

The result of your assessment will satisfy you, it will uplift your being and your slogan will become Proudly Nigerian.

Obiano's "Operation Kpochapu" Kills 3 Kidnappers, Rescues Victim and Recovers Arms

The fear of Obiano’s “Operation Kpochapu” is the beginning of wisdom for all forms of criminals in Anambra State.

A detachment of the dreaded joint security operatives recorded a huge success over the weekend as they engaged some kidnappers in a gun duel.

A 6-man gang of suspected kidnappers were yesterday by  Anambra State Police Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, after a gun battle at Okpoko in Ogbaru local government area during which three members of the gang were feared dead and a woman, Mrs. Edith Maduekwe, kidnapped by the gang, rescued by the police.

How Myles Munroe, wife, died in Plane Crash

 

The leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries, Myles Munroe, and his wife, Ruth, were among nine killed Sunday after the plane they were flying in crashed in the Bahamas.

Their plane hit a construction crane in a shipyard as it approached the Grand Bahama International Airport. It exploded and crashed immediately, according to officials in Bahamas.

The Lear 36 Executive Jet had departed from Nassau, the capital city of Bahamas. “It crashed about 5 p.m. local time – 11 p.m. Nigerian time – Sunday while attempting to land at Grand Bahama International Airport,” The Associated Press quoted a Transport Ministry statement as saying.

Obiano Repositions Anambra as Investment Hub, Attracts $520m in one Week

The efforts of Governor Willie Obiano to reposition Anambra State as the new investment hub in West Africa are beginning to yield amazing results as the state attracted a whopping $520m investment in the outgone week. The investments came largely into the two key areas that make up the governor’s Four Pillars of Development, namely Agriculture and Trade and Commerce. The other two Pillars are Industrialization and Oil & Gas.

What is currently looking like Anambra’s day in the investment sun began at midweek with a tripartite agreement which the state government signed with the management of Delfarm Limited and Songhai Regional Centre from Benin Republic for specific agricultural projects valued at $200m (about N15bn). This was followed up at the weekend with another agreement with a consortium known as the West Africa Intercontinental Trade Centre Ltd which signed for the construction of an International Modern Market to be located in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area at an estimated value of $320m for the first phase of the project.

Tambuwal Fires at Presidency, says "Only God Can..."

 

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, yesterday said he was not intimidated by the purported plans to strip him of his speakership position.

Tambuwal, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the northwest zonal executive committee meeting of All Progressives Congress, APC, said that only God can remove him as speaker of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Turkish Airline to Commence Flights into Enugu

 

The government of Turkey said on Friday that Turkish Airlines would commence scheduled flights into the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in March 2015.

The Turkish ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Mustafa Pulat, made the announcement in Abuja when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Aminu Wali.

Pulat said that direct Turkish airlines flights into more cities in Africa were part of a renewed commitment to strengthening Turkey-Africa strategic partnership.
