Brave Policemen arrest 6 young men while on robbery at Savannah Bank

This report shows misdirection of the youth energy.

Six young men were arrested by a team of anti- robbery policemen attached to Area A Police Command, Lion Building, around 8:30 a.m on Friday while looting properties of the distressed Savannah Bank, Broad Street, Lagos Island.

Saturday Independent reporter who witnessed the incident observed that the arrested armed robbers were all teenagers between the ages of 18 and 20.  Some residents of the area who gathered at the scene identified some of the boys, saying they had been tormenting residents of the area for a very long time.


They commended the Area Commander, Imohimi Edgal, for the quick response of the policemen and reduction of crime in the area.

It was learnt that the suspects whose names were given as Ibrahim Luka, Kunle Malik, Sheriff Lawal, Tunde Basiru, Arif Sarumi, Lukman Ojikutu and Fidelis Joshua, have been committing the act for a long time before the residents gave the police a tip-off by.

Some of the suspects, who tried to escape by attacking the policemen with cutlasses, were shot in the legs by the policemen, who were led by Sgt. Mohammed Akeem.

It was learnt that items recovered from the robbers included three cutlasses, one iron bar, one iron saw, and some quantities of cables. They were taken to Area A Command for interrogation and they have been making useful statement to the police.
