Boko Haram strikes again, bombs bridge in Borno

The Madafuma bridge linking the Biu – Damboa – Maiduguri 185km federal road has reportedly been blown off by suspected Boko Haram Terrorists.

The bombing occurred over the weekend when the insurgents planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) which damaged a good portion of the popular bridge.

A resident of the area, Mallam Musa Yakubu told the Vanguard that the explosion occurred around 2 am while people were still asleep.

Read Musa’s narration:

"We heard a loud bang on Saturday and on Sunday morning when we gathered in Madafuma village to go round our surroundings early in the morning, we found out that the bridge linking us with Biu local Government Area and MA Dara Girau has been blown off, all motorists heading to Maiduguri from Biu especially long vehicles had no option than to make u- turn back to Gombe, unfortunately, small vehicles had to manage the remaining thin portion which has not been affected in the blast, but it is very risky,"
