Why Victor Umeh remains the best for Anambra senatorial election

I read analysis of one writer in the Vanguard newspaper of Friday 19th Sept, 2014 on the chances of aspirants scrambling to represent the people of Anambra central senatorial seat. My conclusion after the analysis is that Sir Victor Umeh will do better than the rest. My reasons are these.

Ngige who is the only force to contend with looks like he is better disposed to play politics in the state level. He has not shown enough sparks up front. Ekwunife may never get the ticket of her new party with Obiora Okonkwo having been entrenched both in Abuja and the politics of the Catholic church. Obiora will  throw a feeble punch in a ring where Victor squares. Okelekwe is a good man but he will be lost in the sea of more vibrant politicians of the Awolowo stock. Victor has the boldness, and a bit of brashness needed for the job of the upper chamber.

Some people nurse the fear that Victor will have problems in his Anaocha because of his estranged political mate Obi. But this does not seem likely because Victor is a grass root man while the other panders to the elite.

Victor is well disposed to people and has proved that he can be committed to a cause he believes in. Some have accused him of talking too much, sometimes, but they fail to know that politics is a talking business.

But the greatest asset Victor has is his brains. In fact he is a brainiac. I recall at a court session when after his cross-examination, Ikpeazu thanked him so much for making their case easier for them.

Anambra central needs a man who has brainwave to address issues at the senate. The zone does not need someone who is easily cowed by the garrulous APC and their supporters. It does not need someone who thinks that all to the job is the power of sensuality.

Victor also understands team work. What many people do  not know about him is his ability to delve into issues and solve the problems as they arise. He is light years ahead of his peers. When he said to me last year that he knew how his court case against the former governor of the state would end I was not keen to believe him. And eventually it happened the way he predicted. Each time I remember that the governor of the state Obiano is in good books with him I have the confidence that the machinations of the governors detractors in the courts will not work. We ask those who are plotting to throw spanner in the wheel of this bright politician in 2015 to have a rethink. Anambra central needs a bright representation. Victor's brightness did not start in politics. It did not come as a result of riches as is the case in some. It is inborn. Let us put our best foot forward.
