Senator Chris Ngige of All
Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the incumbent Governor, Chief
Willie Obiano, over the judgment of the Supreme Court on Monday, which declared
him as the “legal winner” of the November 16, 2013 Governorship election in
Anambra State.
In the same vein, the Deputy
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Prince Chukwudi Orizu and many other
stakeholders, have also congratulated Governor Willie Obiano for his victory at
the Supreme Court.
The press release issued from the
office of the Senator representing Anambra Central was entitled, “Supreme Court
Judgment on Senator Chris Ngige versus Willie Obiano.”
It partly reads: “The Supreme Court
of Nigeria yesterday (Monday), 22nd September, 2014, in a unanimous decision
revalidated the election of Mr. Willie Obiano as the Governor of my dear State,
Anambra.
“… having been declared the “legal
winner” of that election, I hereby congratulate Mr. Willie Obiano and wish him
well in his new assignment. I hereby use this medium to request all Anambra
people irrespective of political party or religious affiliation, to co-operate
with him in the discharge of the onerous functions of his office,” Senator
Ngige said.
Similarly, Rt Hon Chukwudi Orizu said
the victorious judgment is an affirmation of the voice of the people stating
that Obiano was pre-destined to lead Ndi Anambra at this time.
“Supreme Court just affirmed the
voice of Ndi Anambra. Gov Obiano was not just chosen by us through votes, he
was destined to lead us at this time,” Deputy Speaker said.
Prince Orizu also expressed satisfaction
with Obiano’s achievements so far and urged all well-meaning persons to support
his purpose-driven government.
Speaking with journalists in Awka
on Tuesday, Dr. Okonkwo, who is the Patron of Agulu Youth Movement (AYM),
attributed the court victory of the Governor to the kind gestures shown to widows
and poor people by his wife, Ebele Obiano.
“Experience has shown that the hand
of God is always seen in the lives of those who care for widows and empower
poor people in the society like Obiano and his wife,” he stated.
On her own part, Arc Chinelo
Ofoche, who could not hold her “tears of joy” while being interviewed by
journalists at Nteje, Oyi local government area, said Obiano’s victory marks
the beginning of a new dawn for Anambra State.
Arc Ofoche, a Federal House of
Representatives aspirant, said people would have been heartbroken had the judgment
turned otherwise adding that in just six months Obiano gave Ndi Anambra numerous
reasons to vote him again.
“He (Obiano) is a man of goodwill,
yes he so deserves to be our governor. We would have been heart-broken if the
judgment had been otherwise”
“In just six months, Obiano has
written his name in the hearts of Ndi b’anyi, giving them a thousand and one
reasons to vote him again, again and again” she added.
