Impeachment: Ekweremadu, Nnamadi moves to save Sunday Onyebuchi as the Chief of Staff plans to replace him as Enugu State Deputy Governor

A group led by Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, is said to have stormed Abuja in a bid to stop the impeachment.
A day before the incident, Onyebuchi raised the alarm that there was a plot to impeach him, alleging that his boss, Sullivan Chime, had a hand in the plot.

A source close to the group, known as Ebeano Machinery, had allegedly commenced meetings with top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the grounds of the impeachment did not hold water.
The group is to meet with the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, to present their position on the plot to impeach the deputy governor.
“They have gone to Abuja with a high-powered delegation to meet with the national chairman of our party. I want to assure you that the impeachment will not work unless they want the state to be in crisis. This impeachment is being sponsored by government and I was told that the lawmakers got up to N5 million each from the governor to impeach Sunday Onyebuchi. I even have it on good authority that the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo, may replace the deputy governor so that she can enjoy immunity while contesting for the senatorial seat,” our source said.

The Nwobodo angle to the impeachment is currently being linked to the alleged N3.6 billion Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ESUBEB) contract.
