Adamawa Governor Nyako impeached as Deputy resigns, Speaker of the House Sworn-in

The Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako has been impeached by the State House of Assembly following an indictment by the 7-man probe panel set up by the then acting Chief Judge.

Earlier today, the Deputy Governor of the State, Ngilari tendered his resignation to the House which was unanimously accepted.

Immediately after votes in support of Nyako’s impeachment by 18 out of 24 House Members, the Speaker of the House, Umaru Finitri was voted to be sworn in as the next governor.

The swearing-in is scheduled to hold by 4pm today.
