Pope's refusal to ride in a bulletproof... Could it be a lesson for Nigerian church leaders and followers?

The refusal of Pope Francis to ride in a sardine can specially designed to provide a bulletproof cover, sits deep in my heart as a great example of what Christ represents "love".

He understands the reason for the Popemobile and knows about the possible dangers but chooses his "love for the people" over his personal security.

Read the Pope's comment:

“It’s true that anything could happen, but let’s face it, at my age I don’t have much to lose. I know what could happen, but it is in God’s hands…

I remember in Brazil, they’d provided for me an enclosed Popemobile, but I cannot greet the people and tell them I love them inside a sardine can, even if it is made of glass. For me it is a wall.”

What do you think? Can Nigerian Pastors and Church Leaders learn from the Pope?
