2 Dead as Party Youths Clash

A report by the Daily Independent indicates that two persons feared dead as APC and PDP Youths clash in Kwara State.

Two people were reportedly killed in violent clashes by youths involved in defection from a political party to another in, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Many other people, including three siblings, were also injured in the clashes that began on Friday and continued on Sunday and Monday.

The fighting on Friday started around Abayawo area and spread to Alore, Ode Adana, Omoda, Ode-Alawusa and Okelele areas of the town, during which a person reportedly died.
The violence began shortly after some 2,000 youths said to be members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alore area of Ogidi ward in Ilorin west local government defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
An eyewitness account said that fighting broke out as they could not agree on sharing formula for a sum of money reportedly doled out to them.
A group of the youths which lost one of their members on Friday reportedly launched a reprisal attack on Sunday where another person simply identified as Ebba was said to have been killed at Ode Alawusa area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incidents and the killings, saying the command’s men were still at the scene of the fracas trying to restore peace and order.
