End of Boko Haram: Nigerian Troops Re-capture Chibok Town

Here is another reason to celebrate. Yes, if some persons rejoice when insurgents take hold of our territories and cause mayhem, then we have even more right to celebrate the successes of our troops.

The 7 Division of Nigerian Army, on Sunday in Abuja, said it has recaptured Chibok town in Borno State from insurgents.

This information is contained in a statement issued by Colonel Sani Usman, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army.

It said the military was still carrying out mopping-up operation on the surrounding environment.

The statement added that Chibok was fully secured.

Note that the insurrection by Boko Haram, which wants to create an Islamic state in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria, has claimed more than 10,000 lives in the past five years.

"The terrorists who attacked Chibok  town early yesterday have been effectively flushed out of the area.  The subsequent mopping up operation is still ongoing, as troops continue the pursuit of fleeing terrorists and arrest of the wounded."

"Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored and the town is now secured.  Further details will follow later please."
