On July 31, 2014, Ochendo was announced the winner of
Community Service Award by Rotary Club of Nigeria, Awka District 9140.
His astounding achievements and development gaits at home
earned him several Chieftaincy Honours from celebrated Traditional Rulers and
respectable cultures:
“Ebube Awka” by Awka North Local Government Traditional
Rulers in 2010; “Ezi Afakaego” of Urum; “Akpokuo Dike” of Okpuno; “Ojemba” of
Ugwuoba; “Jeluo” of Umueje; “Agbalanze” of Mgbakwu; and “Ochendo Ndi-Igbo na
Kano”.
In the year 2000,
Ochendo received the coveted Paul Harris
Fellow (PHF) award for charity by Rotary Club International.
Ochendo today aspires to offer quality representation, an
answer to a clarion by the good people of Awka North and South Federal
Constituency.
The Ochendo Persona:
Godson Ezenagu is an independent-minded leader with an
even-keel temperament and a knack for consensus-building. He's also a capable,
contemplative philanthropist.
His values are strongly shaped by his expertise as an
administrator, Marketing Guru and a front line property Developer, and by
Christianity. While private by nature, Ochendo mingles easily with others, but
loves playing squash as hobby and enjoys listening to classical and gospel
music.
Ochendo is known for being unafraid to speak out and stand
for the people at all times. Although armed with astute political
sensibilities, he feels comfortable interacting with the youths in matters that
positively affect the society.
Major Areas of Interest:
Ochendo's areas of special legislative interest would be in
support for working families, rural electrification, public education, health
care, economic growth and jobs creation, and ensuring peaceful governance in
our dear state.
As a Commissioner, he worked passionately for agricultural
revolution and rural development.
Prior Experience:
Ochendo had a very successful career history, rising from an
Area Sales Manager with Berec International Sales (Nigeria) Ltd, in 1979 to
Marketing Director of Lazmata Industries (Nigeria) Ltd, from 1983 to 2008.
At some points, he was Regional Sales Manager (South) of
Premier Engineering Works Ltd (1981), Regional Sales Manager (North) of NIBAS
Bello (1982) and Marketing Manager of Franz Ab Ltd (1983)
Being a grassroots’ mobilizer, he was appointed into State
Advisory Committee of the Peter Obi Campaign Organization in 2003.
After prosperous experience in the private sector, Ochendo
was hired as the Acting Chairman of Anambra State Environment Protection Agency
(Now
ASWAMA) which he most effectively served from 2008 to 2009.
Ochendo’s accomplishments at ASWAMA led to his appointment as
two-time Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development from
2009 to 2012.
In 2013, he became the Chairman, Obiano Campaign
Organization, Awka North Local Government which led to overwhelming victory at
the gubernatorial election.

Ali University. Ph. D in Business Management (Honoris Causa) from Caribbean University
Family – Married to Lady Florence Nwabuaku Ezenagu JP,
(nee Orizu) an Egbengwu Nimo native, Njikoka Local Government Area. Six
Children.
Faith – Christian. Knight of St Christopher.
Growing Up Godson Ezenagu (Ochendo):
Born Godson Ezenagu, son of High Chief Lazarus Ezenagu and
Mrs Martha Ezenagu of Amaezike Village Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government
Area of Anambra State, Ochendo came into this life on 6th November, 1952 at
Onitsha.
Ochendo grew up in the midst of respectable elders and
responsible guardians.
He attended Njikoka High School, Ifite Ukpo before heading to
the esteemed Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu where he
graduated with two Certificates (OND in Business Management & Public Administration)
and HND in Marketing).
He later obtained Master’s Degree in International Relations
followed by Doctorate Degree in Business Management (Honoris-Causa).
Ochendo attended many value-added courses; Field Sales
Management in London (1981), Senior Sales Management in Lagos (2003), Senior
Management Skills in Cydon, Britain (2012), etc .
