Miss Independene Anambra 2014: Top 7 to get Scholarships, Job Placements as Contestants Visit Agulu Lake Hotel and Igwe Mbaukwu

The top 20 finalists in the maiden edition of the Miss Independence Anambra Pageant on Saturday, 25th October, 2014 visited the project site of the Agulu Lake Hotel in Agulu, Anambra state as part of their week-long camp activities. On hand to receive them was Mr. Tu, the Project Manager who assured that the hotel will be completed  by the 2nd quarter of 2015. The hotel which boasts of over 70 rooms has a world-class conference centre, ample parking spaces and other sporting and recreational facilities. It is designed to be a tourist attraction with its breath-taking view of Agulu Lake, and also it's midway location connecting easily to the state capital, Awka, the commercial towns of Nnewi and Onitsha and other communities in Anambra state.

The leader of the delegation, Mr. Uche Nworah, MD/CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), organisers of the Miss Independence Anambra Pageant praised the Anambra state government for its vision in building the hotel due to the immense tourism potential. "The pace of work is really fast. Kudos to the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano for his commitment to complete the Agulu Lake hotel project on time. This will enable Anambra State to host world class entertainment events", Nworah concluded.

Nwando Okwuosa, Miss Nigeria 2003/2004 and the Creative Consultant to the Miss Independence Anambra pageant said that the hotel when completed will host Top 20 finalists in the 2015 edition and in subsequent editions. "I am excited at what we saw here today. The Agulu Lake Hotel project is an ambitious one. The facilities though still under construction compares strongly with the ones I have seen from my travel experiences around the world", Nwando said.

The Miss Independence Anambra Pageant team also visited the palace of Igwe Peter Anugwu, (Igwe Mbaukwu) who having got wind of the visit invited his friend and fellow Igwe, Romanus Iloh (Igwe of Nise) to join him at his palace to welcome the ABS team. Welcoming them, Igwe Anugwu praised ABS for the initiative and pledged his full support to the organisation. The Igwe who is also the Chairman of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, Director of Sab Miller Intafact Beverages PLC (brewers of Hero beer etc) and Director of several companies promised to award scholarships to the final Top 7 contestants. Igwe Anugwu also promised all the contestants that upon graduation, he will assist them with job opportunities in any of his associated companies.
