As reported by the Tribune, a 36-year-old man, Ezekiel Inuwa, who defiled a
nine-year old girl (name withheld) at Gidan-Zakara in Karu Local Government
Area of Nasarawa State, is currently cooling his heels at the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia, the state capital.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), an
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Numan Umaru Isma’ila, who addressed
newsmen, said the suspect was apprehended based on a tip-off.
He explained that the investigations had commenced and
the suspect will soon be charged to court.
Also paraded were suspected armed robbers who
dispossessed people of their valuables at Tundun Kauri, on Lafia-Makurdi road,
on July 19.
While parading them, the PPRO said around 12:30a.m., one
Baba Salah Abdullahi, the deputy organising secretary of All Progressives
Congress (APC); Aliba Samuel; Lawrence Anya Ebechi; Kabiru Musa and Musa
Suleiman, all of Tundun Kauri, reported that a group of armed persons,
numbering about five, attacked them in their respective residences and robbed
them of their money and handsets.
“On July 24, based on a tip-off, the following: Ovey
Mathew, Taimako Hassan and Suleiman Isah, all of Agyaragu village of Jenkwe
development area were arrested in possession of two robbed handsets which the
owner identified as theirs,” he added.
