APC Members warn that they might lose Lagos, accuse Tinubu of Imposition

Fear of losing Lagos State has gripped some conscious members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

An elite group within APC, New Lagos Movement (NLM) on Tuesday warned that the party may loose the 2015 gubernatorial election if the imposition culture of Bola Tinubu is not discontinued.

The President of the group, Niyi Akinsiju, presented this warning in a press release titled, "The Rough Road Ahead".

“We have observed that the failure of our party to win the gubernatorial election in Ekiti was due to the most detestable absence of internal democracy within the party.

“The policies of our party, as encapsulated in the ‘APC Roadmap to a New Nigeria’ must be fully implemented at all levels of government in any State where we are in power.
“We must realise that we have nothing less than 215,000 registered members in Ekiti but unfortunately, our party polled less than its numerical strength in the election, which means that our members did not vote for our candidate, Governor Kayode Fayemi.
“Certainty is that we may lose Lagos in 2015 if we allow the discredited religious and zoning sentiments recently introduced by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by which he intends to impose his anointed candidate on members of the party.
“A situation where local government chairmen derived their appointment and imposition from an individual and hence, owe all allegiance to their benefactor is completely objectionable to us.
“In Lagos State today, all local government chairmen and even, councillors, do not see themselves as responsible to the electorate who ultimately voted them into power but rather pay slavish obeisance to Tinubu whom they all consider to be their benefactor by way of imposition on party members,” Akinsiju claimed.
The earlier, the better... Internal democracy is a MUST for Nigeria!
