Mr. Afam Ogene, one of the four federal lawmakers from Anambra State elected on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, who reportedly defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, said yesterday he was still in APGA.

Addressing officials of APGA from all the wards in Ogbaru federal constituency, Ogene also debunked the insinuation that the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi, was the person that influenced them to leave APGA for PDP.

“I have never been at any meeting where the former Governor, Peter Obi tried to coerce, induce, beg, appeal or cajole any of us to join PDP. Even in his press Statement issued only two or three days ago, he did restate that he remained a member of All Progressives Grand Alliance”.

He told the people that what happened was that there was a meeting on whether it would be better for all the elected federal lawmakers to contest on the same political party with President Goodluck Jonathan since all the elections for 2015 would be contested on the same day.

He said after the meeting, they also discussed with Governor Willie Obiano, adding that because of the issues involved, he had also been meeting stakeholders in the constituency, including traditional rulers and the clergy on the issue, adding that it was decided that they remained in APGA.
