The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame
Patience Jonathan has extolled the virtues of Late Apostle Samuel Onunkwo,
father in-law of her Director of Protocol, Mr. Mfawa Abam who was buried on
Thursday at Ifite Ogbunike, Anambra State. Mrs. Jonathan said during the burial
that the late Apostle Onunkwo was a devout who Christian lived a life worthy of
emulation, and also an accomplished bureaucrat who impacted positively on his
people and.
According to the First Lady who was represented at the burial
by the wife of Anambra State Governor Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, “the
deceased is a kind hearted and peaceful man who left good legacies that are
evident in the quality of children he left behind. His death is not just a loss
to his family but to the larger society.” Dame Patience Jonathan also prayed
that God may grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
In his Sermon at the Survival Christ Holy Church Ogbunike,
Very Rev Ifeanyi Okoli enjoined Christians to always keep and obey the
commandment of God. He noted that the deceased lived good Christian life to the
best of his knowledge and called on others to emulate his life on earth and
change their attitude towards earthly things.
In his appreciation to the dignitaries who condoled with the
family, Mr. Emeka Onunkwo, son of the deceased thanked all for coming to
commiserate with the family especially the First Lady, and noted that his
father lived a life which was a demonstration of sterling values, stressing
that the family will miss their late patriarch for all the positive influence
on the lives of the children.
