Reports suggest that the Nigeria
Medical Association (NMA) may suspend the current strike today.
This is sequel to the
meeting that the NMA executives and other stakeholders held in Abuja, Sunday.
The NMA earlier invited the
press to hold a briefing to announce the suspension of the strike at 3 p.m. but
the briefing could not hold due to lack of harmony on some salient issues among
the delegates at the meeting.
At few minutes to 5 p.m. an
official of the NMA came to apologize to anxious journalists that the briefing
had been rescheduled, saying: “We will get to you in the next 48 hours.”
Those in attendance at the
meeting included members of the board of trustees of the NMA, previous chairmen
of the association and current national officers of the association.
The earlier, the better... Ebola is not on strike!
