Anambra @23 by Valentine Amala Ulasi

On 27th August 1991, the then Head of State Gen Ibrahim Badamosi Babagandi created Anambra state out of the old Anambra state.

It’s been a tortuous journey from its military administrators to civilian governors.

Anambra has had its very low moments and these low moments took greater part of its years in its journey to statehood and held the state to its knees for long.

Anambra was condemned to the carcass, made a laughing stock and always talked about with so much disdain because of the daily negative headlines it grabs on our national dailies and declared a pariah state by the World Bank.

All these are now a thing of the past as civility, economic, political and social stability have all returned back to the state courtesy of Chief Peter Obi (Okwute Ndi Igbo) our pathfinder who asked whether Anambra is cursed or are we the cause and His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano our torch-bearer.

Anambra State....Light to The Nation!
