What Court Did to a Boy, 21 for Allegedly Raping a Minor

The number of stories like this is skyrocketing, we must find a stop to it.

An applicant, Funsho Femi, aged 21 years has appeared before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with defiling a 12-year-old minor.

Police prosecutor, Etim Nkankuk, told the court that the offence was committed on November 19 at No. 6, Omo Ade St., Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos.

Nkankuk told the court that the accused lured the minor into his apartment where he defiled her.

He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 137 prescribes life imprisonment for offenders found guilty.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. A. Demi-Ajayi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till January 28 for advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions.

I am happy that this case has got to the law court in relatively short a time, I will sure be happier if it ends soonest.
