The National Chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, has described the second Republic as Ndigbo’s most
glorious era.
This, Umeh said, was because through the accord reached by
the Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP) and National Party of Nigeria (NPN) Ndigbo
were able to produce a number of people in the federal cabinet as well as
produced the Speaker, House of Representatives.
Umeh spoke at the weekend at White Castle Hotel, Neni in
Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State where he parleyed with
Presidents-General and women leaders in Anambra Central Senatorial
district over his Senatorial ambition.
He said he nurtured the ambition to go to the Senate because
he found out that there was still a lot of work to be done to uplift the living
standard of the people.
Besides, Umeh said to snatch the share of national cake due
to his people is not for the lily-livered given his experience at the National
Conference.
He called for support for APGA because, according to him, it
is the only party that has Igbo interest, arguing that any Igbo man who is not
a member of the party is not a true Igbo man.
Umeh assured that the party would never die. Instead, it
would spring surprises in next year’s election.
According to him, evidence that the party is doing well can
be seen in the manner Anambra State has been governed in the last 11 years.
He said under Governor Peter Obi, Anambra was transformed and
with Obiano whose tenure would end in 2018, “APGA got tap root.”
“This is why the party has continued to win every court case
it is involved in,” he noted.
