The immediate past Deputy Governor
of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, has attributed the widespread support and
popularity he is enjoying in the gubernatorial race to the grace of God.
Speaking during the monthly fasting
and prayer meeting of the Akwa Ibom Consolidation Project (AKCP), on Saturday,
Mr. Ekere said it was obvious that it was the grace of God that was
responsible for his acceptability and steady frontline position in the race.
Mr. Ekere, however, charged members
of the group to remain steadfast and prayerful till victory is achieved.
He also urged them to be vigilant
and resourceful to harvest from their months of hard work in the countdown to
the gubernatorial primary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) next month.
In his sermon with the theme, “Be
Strong and Courageous,” Apostle Patrick Jerome, Prelate of Christ Believers’
(Evangelical) Mission, Uyo, declared that it was only a person ordained by God
that will become Governor of Akwa Ibom next year.
Taking his text from John 1:1-9, the
cleric foresaw victory for Mr. Ekere but urged him to be strong and courageous
in spite of hurdles.
Apostle Jerome emphasized the need
for the church to take its rightful position in the process of the emergence of
a new Governor for the state.
