Obiano Flags off New Roads, Links four LGAs

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has reiterated the commitment of his administration to Continue, Complete and Commission all the ongoing projects in the state while simultaneously starting new ones.


Speaking while inspecting the ongoing Anamsea – Ndiukwuenu – Awa – Ufuma Road, Governor Obiano assured that all ongoing road projects will be redesigned to accommodate the features of a modern road and shall be completed in a good time. He noted the importance of the road which includes its potential to open up the vital link across four local government areas; Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North and Orumba South.

Chief Willie Obiano who expressed satisfaction with the standard of work done so far also flagged off the Construction of Ndiukwuenu – Agbu Road (Phase 1). He emphasized his administration’s resolve to provide durable access roads.

Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Calistus Ilozumba explained that the over 25km road will cost the government not less than N11 billion naira. He also warned that road users should avoid the construction of Bumps on finished roads to protect its quality and life span.

In the same vain, Chief Willie Obiano flagged-off the Amansea – Awka Old Road. He stated that though the work will be done by the contractor who handled the Enugu axis of the road, the Anambra part will be wider with street lights and other important features.

At Amansea, Governor Obiano thanked the people including the Hausa Community for their peaceful coexistence and assured the non-indigenes of their safety. He implored the people of Awka North to queue into Anambra Agricultural Revolution by enrolling into cooperatives to access free tractor services and seedlings.


In his speech, the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon Cosmas thanked Chief Obiano for his great achievements in less than two months in office and expressed warm greetings from the people of Awka North.
