35 Road Crashes as FRSC Convicts 143 Traffic Offenders

 
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) announced that it apprehended 222 offenders in Plateau for various traffic offences, during the Yuletide.

The State’s Sector Commander, Mr. Sunday Maku, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos that the arrests were made between Decemebr 18 and December 31, 2014,

“Out of the 154 that were charged to court, 143 were convicted, while 11 were found not guilty and discharged.

“They were arrested for driving unregistered vehicles, invalid motor papers, lack of fire extinguisher, overloading, worn-out tyres and underage driving, amongst others,’’ Maku said.

He also said that during the period, the command recorded 35 road crashes, with 10 deaths.


The sector commander explained that some of the causes of the carnage were dangerous overtaking, speeding and drunk driving, amongst others.
