The Anglican Bishop of Isiala Ngwa South, Rt. Rev. Isaac Chijioke
Nwaobia has described the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter
Obi as a man who has shown to the world what true governance should be.
He said this at the St. Mary’s Church, Mbutu Ukwu during the just
concluded Second Session of the Second Synod of his Diocese.
“We commend the leadership
style of the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi for making
act of governance less expensive, giving attention to people-oriented
projects and having left the sum of 75 Billion Naira, in combination of
cash, local investments, foreign savings/investments which is a total of
$156 Million USD, which was received by Gov. Obiano in the handover
note.”
“When other
Governors were auctioning off all government property, leaving debts
through international and local loans, huge unpaid salaries and
pensions, Obi left money for the State even when he did not borrow nor
raise bonds.”, he said. He called on other leaders to emulate Obi’s
accountability.
“The Church in Anambra State should celebrate Mr. Peter Obi, CON,
failing which the Anglican Church of Aba Ecclesiastical Province will
celebrate him as the real Okwute of our time.”
