Anambra Doctor and his accomplice arrested for attempt to sell unborn baby

An Anambra-based doctor has been arrested, along with his accomplice, for allegedly being part of a plot to sell an unborn child.

The two men had reportedly planned to sell the baby for N70,000, Punch reports.

However, the accused doctor, Daniel Ikebuilo, owner of Ikemefuna Hospital and Maternity in Umunnachi, has denied the allegations. His accomplice is reportedly named Uwandu Kelechi.

“It is just allegation that I have a case with the police in Anambra over child trafficking, that matter is in court at the moment. This person (Kelechi) claims that he brings pregnant women to me to deliver and sell but it is not true. I have been practising for 20 years. I have written my statement, whatever it is, I am ready to defend myself because my hands are clean,” said Ikebuilo.

A pregnant woman, Rosemary Chukwu, reportedly levelled the accusation against the pair.

The case is currently under investigation.
