Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano says his victory at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which wound up yesterday after the judgment is a victory for the people of the State and democracy.
Speaking after he received
youths who thronged Government House, Awka on a show of solidarity after the Justice Ishaq Bello-led Tribunal dismissed all grounds of the petitions against his election and returned him as the governor, Obiano said with the victory, his administration would now focus on the task of fast tracking development and transformation of the state.
Obiano thanked the youths for their support to his administration and called on them to continue to promote peaceful conduct in all their undertakings.
Also speaking, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh said the tribunal’s judgment has confirmed that the result of the election reflects the will of the people who voted overwhelmingly for Governor Obiano.
Umeh noted that all the petitioners were not able to prove their case before tribunal and commended the judges for remaining upright, tolerant and dedicated, noting that vibrant judiciary remains the key to growth and advancement of democracy.
