Obiano’s Operation Kpochapu Foil Bank Robbery Attempt in Awka

 
A gang of armed robbers who made a desperate attempt to rob a new generation bank along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway were forcefully repelled by men of the dreaded Operation Kpochapu, the special anti-crime unit of the Anambra State Police Command who gunned down the leader of the suspected criminals in a gun battle.

The robbery gang had struck at about 2.am on Friday night when it imagined that the police would have lost vigilance but were surprised when the police made a dramatic swoop on them. Stunned by the sudden appearance of the police on the scene, the robbers opened fire to blast their way out of the scene but the men of Operation Kpochapu replied in self-defense, killing their leader who was later identified as Izu, a notorious armed robber whose men had been behind many raids on churches in Anambra State in the last few years.

EULOGIES: UMEH, EZEANI LAUDS OBIANO FOR KEEPING CAMPAIGN PROMISES

 
Former Commissioner for Information and Culture in the Peter Obi administration, Chief Maja Umeh, has eulogized Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for being a man of his words. Umeh said he was impressed with the way Governor Obiano was being faithful to his campaign promises in just seven months in office.

Maja Umeh who was speaking with journalists in Awka at the weekend, said that if Obiano continued on this track, he would distinguish himself as an uncommon politician because ‘many politicians do not keep their promises to the people.’

Edo State comes alive as Jonathan visits Benin City

 
Benin City, the capital of Edo State, is set to host the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) followers from all over the federation today.

Leading the pack is President Goodluck Jonathan, the party’s standard-bearer in the 2015 presidential poll. Part of the President’s itinerary during the visit, would be his official commissioning of the road from Oluku, on the outskirts of Benin, to Dawson in the centre of the acclaimed ancient city, which the Federal Ministry of Works rehabilitated.

Nigerians given very long Weekend as FG declares 6th & 7th as Public Holidays

 
The Federal Government has declared Monday 6th and Tuesday, 7th of October, 2014 as public holidays for the Id-el-Kabir Celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, made the declaration in a statement yesterday, Friday 26th September on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, felicitating with all muslim faithful in the country and urging them to support, co-operate and join hands with President Goodluck Jonathan, in his sustained efforts to building a peaceful, united and virile nation.

Moro enjoined all Nigerians to use this occasion to pray for peace and unity across the nation.


The minister while rounding up his speech wished all Nigerians a most rewarding and happy id-el-Kabir celebration.

Supreme Court Verdict: Obiano promises 15,000 jobs from Rice Production and other Ventures to Celebrating youths

 
The Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano has assured the United Anambra Youths Assembly (U-AYA) that his administration is commitment towards the accelerated development of the State and creation of up to 15,000 job opportunities. The job opportunities include 10,000 from the State rice project and another 5000 from a four-star hotel facility said to be first of its kind in the South-East zone which he said would engage the youths whom he described as the active segment of the population. Governor Obiano stated this while receiving the youths who converged at the Government House Awka today with drums, drumming and dancing to congratulate him on his latest victory at the Supreme Court which laid to rest all disputes concerning his victory in the gubernatorial election of November 2013 and declaration as the duly elected governor of Anambra State.

Obiano advises Hotel Owners to Upgrade or face being sealed off

The Anambra State Government has given directives that hotels that are not upgraded and does not conform to standards in the state will be sealed off by November 2014.

Chief Willie Obiano, the governor said this at a meeting with the Association of Hotel Proprietors in the State. He noted that with improved security in the state, there will be an inflow of people from different parts of the world for businesses hence the need to upgrade their services.

Bizarre! Pastor gives petrol to congregants, says "...as tasty as pineapple"

 
Form having his congregation eat grasses and trampling on his congregation, South Africa’s highly controversial Pastor,Daniel Lesego of Rabboni Centre Ministries has graduated to giving them petrol to drink.

He held petrol in a bottle and said petrol can be as tasty as pineapple. 

Suddenly church members were rushing towards him begging for a taste.

When he gives them he asks "Is it nice"?  They yell and nod in excitement, pleading for more.

Deadline for Okada Riders...

 
The new Lagos State Police Commissioner, Kayode Aderanti has issued a 14-day ultimatum to commercial motorcycle operators, also known as okada riders, to stop plying restricted roads or risk incurring the wrath of the law.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, 24 September, 2014, by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, the commissioner warned that any okada rider that flouts the 2012 State Traffic Law by plying restricted routes would be arrested and prosecuted after the expiration of the new ultimatum.

Panic! Wonders! as two Ebola Victims "rise from the dead"

  
Wonders have not ended in Liberia ooo.

There's currently panic, fear and confusion in two villages in Nimba County in Liberia after reports that two female Ebola victims have risen from the dead.


According to local reports, 44 year old Dorris Quoi who lived in Hope Village Community and a 67 year old woman identified as Ma Kebeh, died of the Ebola virus and were about to be taken for burial when they resurrected and are now walking among the living.


Senate approves $1 billion loan for Jonathan


The Nigerian Senate has approved the $1 billion loan requested by President Jonathan in July, earlier this year.

Jonathan had requested for the loan in addition to the N968.127b budgetary provision for the Defense Ministry.

The N165b loan would be used for the of purchase military equipment and personnel training. This is aimed at curbing insurgency and improving national security.

Setback for Sullivan Chime as Enugu Community denies endorsing him for Senate

 
There were reports over the weekend that the people of Awgu in Enugu West Senatorial district have adopted Governor Sullivan Chime for Senate in the 2015 general

Day turned dark on Tuesday when the President of Ugwulesi Autonomous Community Town Union in Awgu Town, Dr. Dominic Ogbu, said those who visited Chime were “self-appointed political jobbers representing no community from Awgu, hence neither represented the views of their village, let alone those of Awgu people.”

Niger Governor denies sponsoring Tambuwal/Amaechi Ticket

 
The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu has described as ‘enemy’s actions’ the allegations that he mooted and sponsored the 2015 joint Presidential ticket of the Speaker House of Representatives,  Aminu Tambuwal, and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.

Aliyu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebije, says:

“I want to put records straight that at no time did Lamido and I ever asked Rotimi Amaechi to contest the 2015 presidential election with Tambuwal.

As Graham's friends and family held vigils for her safe return, Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo announced the arrest at a press conference Wednesday night and told reporters, "This case is nowhere near over."
